Behavior Technician - Job description

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have completed the 40 hour RBT training course (verified by a certificate of completion).

Expected to pass the competencies checklist within 4 weeks of hiring date (training provided).

High school diploma (equivalent) or higher.

US work authorization

Must pass Background Check
-
Must be CPR Certified (with a mannequin)

Must be compassionate and patient

Must be able to effectively receive and communicate detailed information, both oral and written

Must be able to work well with others and always conduct themselves with professionalism and courtesy toward everyone, at all times

Excellent time management, punctuality, and readiness to work! Absenteeism is not possible with our population of children, so consistent attendance is critical.

A positive attitude, willingness to learn and take direction from senior staff members, and ability to accept feedback

Must demonstrate and maintain a minimum level of competency to accurately and compassionately provide high-quality care to our clients.

Must be in overall good health; physically able to stand on feet for a minimum of 15 minutes, and lift up to 50 pounds as well as the stamina required to care for young children over the course of an 8 hour day.

Job Goal:
​
A Behavior Technician (BT) is a paraprofessional who works under the supervision of a BCBA. BTs are primarily responsible for direct implementation of treatment plans related to skill-acquisition and behavior reduction as well as collecting data, session notes and creating materials for direct therapy.
BTs must show aptitude, passion and a love of children. RBTs must be able to demonstrate patience and compassion as well as a desire to help children and families make progress toward their goals.

Responsibilities:

Provide one-on-one therapy and group therapy using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)

Help create and gather materials for clients and staff
-
Help maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the center

Communicate regularly with all staff and supervisors to ensure effective treatment and progress

Follow written and oral instructions with accuracy
-
Follow data collection procedures with accuracy and demonstrate basic understanding of technology (tablets, computers) or show ability to be trained in their use.

Must operate ethically and protect client confidentiality at all times.

Physically able to stand on feet for a minimum of 15 minutes, and lift up to 50 pounds and be in overall good health

Perform other duties as assigned
